Optional: white cookie frosting or melted white chocolate for laces and edible silver glitter for the Vince Lombardi Trophy
Directions
Clear space in your freezer for a small baking sheet. Place the football molds on the baking sheet and set aside.
Melt the milk chocolate or caramel candy melts in a glass measuring cup or microwave-safe bowl. (I did a combo of half milk chocolate and half caramel candy melts to get a lighter brown for the footballs) Microwave in 30-second intervals, stirring in between until melted.
** If chocolate seizes, stir in 1 teaspoon of vegetable shortening or vegetable oil until smooth again. Wait one minute to allow to slightly cool.Add roughly one tablespoon of chocolate to each cavity. If you are using candy melts you need to work fast because the candy melts harden very quickly so have your cones ready.
Gently press a frozen mini ice cream cone into each cavity gently. Do not push all the way down because the chocolate cone will show through. Place the entire tray back into the freezer immediately.
Freeze for about 10 minutes, or until set.
Right before serving or beforehand, pipe white frosting (or melted white chocolate) onto the footballs to create the laces. Store in the freezer until ready to serve.
Tips
Candy melts work best for this recipe because they harden quickly and hold their shape.
If any ice cream peeks through, simply spoon a little melted chocolate into a clean cavity and re-dip the frozen football for a second coat.
Pipe the laces just before serving so they stay crisp and clean.
Perfect for Super Bowl spreads, tailgates, or anytime dessert needs a little fourth-quarter drama. 🏈✨
