How to Make a Choco Taco

In 2022 Klondike sent the internet into a frenzy when it said that the Choco Taco would be discontinued. It eventually reversed course, saying the beloved ice cream treat may be coming back. No one is quite sure where the taco stands right now in 2023, but we came up with a homemade version to tie everyone over! Scroll down for the full recipe and the YouTube video on The Morning Toast!

Ingredients

Pizzelle Waffle Cookies

Vanilla Ice Cream

Chocolate Fudge

Chopped salted peanuts or sprinkles

12 oz semi or milk chocolate chips

Directions

  1. Allow ice cream to come to room temperature on the counter while you prepare the waffle shells.

  2. Place one waffle cookie in between a damp paper towel and microwave for 45 seconds. Remove from microwave and quickly fold into a taco while still sandwiched between the paper towel. It will harden immediately so work quickly, but be careful not to burn your hands. Repeat with desired amount of waffle cookies.

  3. Fill your waffle shells with softened ice cream and layer with fudge, then top with more ice cream. Smooth the ice cream so it’s flush with the waffle shell. Freeze for an hour before preparing the melted chocolate.

  4. In a small bowl, melt your chocolate chips on high at 30 second intervals, stirring in between each time. Once melted, carefully dip the top of each shell into the chocolate. You can use a spatula to scrape off any excess chocolate. Immediately sprinkle with chopped nuts or any desired topping. Store in an air-tight container in the freezer.
