Coffee Filter Paper Party Poms
What you need
- Coffee Filters
- One 12" Paper Lantern
- Water
- Food Coloring
- Hot glue gun
- String or Ribbon
Directions
- Start with one package of regular round white coffee filters and a bowl of cold tap water.
- Add food coloring to water (3 drops of red for light pink, or use 1 cup of strong brewed coffee for light brown).
- Submerge a large stack of filters in colored water for about 20 seconds until they absorb the color.
- Remove filters and wring out as much water as possible - they won't rip.
- Lay filters out to dry: air dry or place about 15 per baking sheet and bake at 325 degrees for about 10 minutes until dry.
- Fold each filter in half like a taco, then add a dot of hot glue in the center and fold once more.
- Add another dot of glue at the bottom of the folded filter.
- Glue all filters directly to the paper lantern, layering them on top of each other going down the lantern.
- Scrunch all the filters together to create the final pom effect.
