DIY Graduation Champagne Flute Caps
What you need
- Black construction paper
- Gold embroidery thread (or desired color)
- Glass flutes
- Ruler
- Pencil
- Hot glue
- Fabric glue
Directions
- Measure and cut a 1" by approximately 4" strip of construction paper for each flute. Wrap snugly inside the top of the glass with one inch overlap, trim excess, remove and hot glue the circle together.
- Measure and cut a 2½" square piece of construction paper for each flute.
- Run a thin line of hot glue along one edge of the paper circle. Center and attach to the construction paper square. Set aside.
- For tassels, cut five 6" pieces of gold embroidery thread. Lay together and fold in half to create 10 strands. Make sure ends are even. Wrap one piece of thread about half inch below the fold loop, wrapping five or six times. Use fabric glue to hold the wrap in place, pressing firmly to adhere. Allow to dry and trim excess thread if needed.
- Put a dab of hot glue on one side of the wrapped area of the tassel. Center the loop on the mortarboard and press into place.
