Checkerboard Lazy Susan
What you need
- 24" Wood Round
- Lazy Susan Hardware
- (4) 1/4" - 1/2" Screws
- Screw Driver
- Hot Glue
- Martha Stewart Wood Stain (White)
- Black and White Wood Paint
- UV Clear Spray Paint
- Ruler and Pencil
- Tape
- Felt
Directions
- Stain the 24" wood round with white wood stain and let dry completely.
- Measure and mark the wood round for a standard checkerboard pattern: 16"x16" with 64 2" squares (8 squares across and 8 squares down). Mark carefully with ruler and pencil.
- Paint the checkerboard pattern by placing tape over every other square, then paint the exposed squares black. Let dry and apply UV clear coat to prevent chipping. Tip: Use a Sharpie to outline the squares instead of a paintbrush if preferred.
- Cut a piece of felt to match the size of the lazy susan hardware and hot glue it to the metal bottom. This prevents scratching table surfaces.
- Use a screw driver to attach the lazy susan hardware to the center of the back of the wood round with the 4 screws.
Notes: Home Depot typically has limited wood round sizes, but Ace Hardware usually offers more options and better quality wood selections.
