DIY Rolling Laundry Baskets
What you need
- 3' X 5' ½" 19 gauge hardware cloth (wire) - $13.97 each (2 needed)
- 24" X 36" canvas laundry bag
- 18" wood slab
- Hot glue
- Wire scissors
- Needle nose pliers
- Paint
- ½" twine
- (4) 2" casters
Directions
- Roll out wire and form a tall cylinder about 14.5" wide.
- Using wire cutters, remove excess wire leaving about 1.5" overlap. Trim about 10" off the bottom so laundry bag sits inside and barely brushes the base.
- Using needle nose pliers, bend the cut metal around the other wire mesh to secure. Bend all prongs so they don't poke. Bend bottom prongs outward so it sits evenly on wood.
- Place wire cylinder in middle of wood base. Paint or stain base if desired and let dry.
- Pour hot glue liberally along edges of wire around entire cylinder so wire mesh sits in hot glue. Let dry.
- Place thin layer of hot glue along base of wire and add rope all around several times to cover all glue and complete the base look.
- Flip hamper and screw in swivel casters. Insert laundry bag and use.
