Transform an old stretchy sweater into trendy patterned leg warmers or boot cuffs.
Servings 1 pair of leg warmers/boot cuffs makes

What you need

  • Old stretchy sweater
  • Fabric scissors
  • Bonding tape
  • Jar (optional, for stretching fabric)

Directions

  1. Select a stretchy old sweater you no longer want to wear. The arms must stretch enough to fit around your thigh.
  2. Using fabric scissors, cut the sleeves off the sweater.
  3. If the fabric isn't very stretchy, wrap the leg warmer around a jar while applying bonding tape to help it stretch.
  4. Turn the sweater sleeve inside out.
  5. Apply bonding tape all along the edge of the sweater sleeve. Alternatively, you can sew a hem using elastic thread if you know how to sew.
  6. Flip the hem up and press down the tape.
  7. Turn the cuff right side out.
Note: Leg warmers are currently trendy but can be hard to find with fun patterns, making this a cheap and easy DIY alternative.
