Holiday Ornament Brookie Skillet
Ingredients
- ¾ cup unsalted butter, melted
- 1 cup packed brown sugar
- ½ cup C&H® granulated sugar
- 2 large eggs
- 2 teaspoons pure vanilla extract
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon cornstarch
- ¾ teaspoon baking soda
- ¼ teaspoon baking powder
- 1 pinch salt
- 1 cup chocolate chips
- 1 box brownie mix
- Ingredients listed on the box
- 14 oz melted chocolate
- 1 6-cavity cylinder mold (Fill twice)
- 1 tablespoon vanilla ice cream per ornament 6 tablespoons total
- Mini peanut butter cups
- Edible gold dust or gold spray
Method
- Make the Chocolate Ornaments. Coat each cavity of the 6-cavity sphere mold with melted chocolate and chill in the freezer until firm. Add 1 tablespoon of vanilla ice cream into half of each chocolate sphere. Seal with the other chocolate half with a thin layer of chocolate. Freeze. Add a mini peanut butter cup on top of each cylinder as the ornament cap. Adhere with a tiny dab of melted chocolate. Dust with edible gold and freeze while you prepare the brookie skillet.
- Preheat oven to 350°F and grease a 14-inch cast iron skillet. Whisk melted butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar until smooth.
- Add the eggs and vanilla and mix well.
- Add the flour, cornstarch, baking soda, baking powder, and a pinch of salt. Stir until combined.
- Fold in the chocolate chips and scoop the cookie dough into the skillet, leaving gaps in between to add the brownie mix.
- Prepare the brownie mix according to the package. Spoon the brownie batter gently in between the cookie dough.
- Bake 35–45 minutes, until the edges are set and the center is still slightly gooey. Cool for 10 minutes.
- Place frozen, gold-dusted ornaments in the center of the warm brookie skillet just before serving. Crack into it and let the ice cream melt into the brookie.
Notes
Makes 6 full ornaments and 3 halves. Uses a 14-inch cast iron skillet.
